Podcast 27 – EA gets Star Wars license, new Pokémon leak, and the Survivor finale!

It seems like being timely is a thing now! In our latest hour-long episode of the 8 Bit Awesome Podcast, we discuss the ramifications of Electronic Arts taking over the Star Wars game license, as well as the leak of new Pokémon direct from Japan! We also talked (briefly) about the finale of Survivor: Caramoan, as Willie drones on about his love for Pushmo on the Nintendo 3DS. Oh, and apparently Aliens: Colonial Marines sold 1.3 million copies. We’re sad. Thanks for listening to another episode of the 8 Bit Awesome Podcast!

This week on our surprisingly brief episode of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast, we discuss two big game announcements and media blowouts, namely the ones for Call of Duty: Ghosts and Grand Theft Auto 5. We also talk about the upcoming crowdsourced project and spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness, titled Darkness of the Eternals. We also mention the huge Star Wars Steam Sale and and Sleeping Dogs available for free on Playstation Plus. Finally, we finish up with a little more about E3 as the convention quickly speeds toward us. Thanks for listening to another episode of the 8 Bit Awesome Podcast!

Podcast 25 – Xbox event on May 21st and Nintendo ditches E3 Press Conference

This week on the 8Bit Awesome Podcast, we discuss two huge E3-related stories, by both Microsoft and Nintendo. First, we have a lengthy discussion on Nintendo and how they will be skipping out on their annual press conference normally held in the Nokia Theatre prior to E3. We talk about what it means for Nintendo and for the future of E3 as a whole (2K entertainment also recently announced they will be missing the convention). Next, we give our opinions on the other headline story of the week, that Microsoft will hold a special event on May 21 to reveal their new console, prior to E3 and a handful of other “NextBox” rumors.  Thanks for listening to another long, but hopefully entertaining episode of the 8bitAwesome Podcast!

Podcast 24 – A Link to the Past 2, 3DS Nintendo Direct, and “What about the Wii U?”

This week on the 8Bit Awesome Podcast, we marvel at the mountain of megatons that were masterfully made known at the Nintendo Direct. Not only were we given a ton of info, trailers, and gameplay footage for games that we already knew about (Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Super Luigi U) but Nintendo also decided to bestow us with 3 big reveals. First, was a 3DS sequel to Yoshi’s Island. Also, Nintendo announced that Earthbound was finally going to hit the VC with the launch of the service next week. Finally, and most importantly however, was the announcement of a sequel to A Link to the Past. Listen to what we think of all the news (and lack of Wii U news) in this weeks edition of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast! Thanks for listening

We’ve got big news this week, from Disney’s shut down of Lucas Art, to the release of a Mewto evolution? Even more importantly though, we discuss the recent tweets by Adam Orth (a Creative Director, or rather, former Creative Dir3ector, at Microsoft) that defended always online. We also quickly discuss the best headphones for your money (Will’s suggestion: Sony MDR7506) and some iOS titles including Super Stick Man Golf, Sonic Dash, and more. Finally, Will revisits Luigi’s Mansion and give a final verdict. Thanks for joining us for another week of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast! Podcast 20 – Luigi’s Mansion, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Ducktales, and why the Wii U has disappointed us so far

This week, for our 20th episode, we have our longest podcast ever! Yes, its over 2 hours, but its chock-full of podcast-y goodness. We start off with the recent news of the re-release of the NES title Ducktales, which leads us into a Disney love-fest and our anticipation for the upcoming Girl Meets World. We then give our impressions of the recently released Luigi’s Mansion and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U and 3DS. Finally, we spend the second half of the show discussing the current state of the Wii U, and how we believe the OS and Online functionality has let us down. Thanks for listening to another great edition of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast!

Podcast 19 – Lego City: Undercover, Harmoknight Demo, Kickstarter, and SimCity is even shittier than we first thought

This week, Willie Clark ditches the podcast for SXSW, but Chris and I keep the content coming with talk on Lego City, the Harmoknight Demo, Kersploosh, and the Veronica Mars Kickstarter, and even more Sim City shitiness. Chris gives us impressions of the brand-new, wonderful Lego City game (and its unfortunately long load times). We then revisit the disaster following the Sim City launch— namely the horribly programmed AI, and the always on DRM (server-side calculations aren’t happening, what a surprise!) We finish off with some Kickstarter suggestions including the Veronica Mars movie and Jeff Cannata’s new web show. Thanks for joining us for another awesome edition of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast!

Podcast 18 – Tomb Raider, SimCity Launch Disaster, and Nintendo woes

This week, we start off our podcast with Chris’s impressions of the brand new installment in the Tomb Raider series (you can find his full review at eggplante.com. We then move on to the big news of the week — namely, EA’s botched launch of Sim City. From server issues, to pulling features, and more — it seems that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Finally, we finish off our podcast with a quick look at Nintendo’s history with load times and battery life, and how their current consoles seem to have thrown both of those important features out the window. Thanks for joining us for another fantastic week of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast.

This week on the 8Bit Awesome Podcast, we talk about the absurd amount of EA news. Earlier this week, EA held an event discussing their plans for the next generation, which included potential 69.99 pricepoints for games, micro-transactions, and more. Also, rumors were circulating across the web about a deal struck between Microsoft and EA, for potential exclusivity on the next Xbox. Finally, we discuss the leaks coming out of Ubisoft, surrounding the upcoming Assassin’s Creed sequel, Black Flag. We also give quick previews of Luigi’s Mansion, Lego City: Undercover, and Brain Training in our “What we’ve been playing” segment.
