Podcast 20 – Luigi’s Mansion, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Ducktales, and why the Wii U has disappointed us so far

This week, for our 20th episode, we have our longest podcast ever! Yes, its over 2 hours, but its chock-full of podcast-y goodness. We start off with the recent news of the re-release of the NES title Ducktales, which leads us into a Disney love-fest and our anticipation for the upcoming Girl Meets World. We then give our impressions of the recently released Luigi’s Mansion and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U and 3DS. Finally, we spend the second half of the show discussing the current state of the Wii U, and how we believe the OS and Online functionality has let us down. Thanks for listening to another great edition of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast!

Podcast 19 – Lego City: Undercover, Harmoknight Demo, Kickstarter, and SimCity is even shittier than we first thought

This week, Willie Clark ditches the podcast for SXSW, but Chris and I keep the content coming with talk on Lego City, the Harmoknight Demo, Kersploosh, and the Veronica Mars Kickstarter, and even more Sim City shitiness. Chris gives us impressions of the brand-new, wonderful Lego City game (and its unfortunately long load times). We then revisit the disaster following the Sim City launch— namely the horribly programmed AI, and the always on DRM (server-side calculations aren’t happening, what a surprise!) We finish off with some Kickstarter suggestions including the Veronica Mars movie and Jeff Cannata’s new web show. Thanks for joining us for another awesome edition of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast!

Podcast 18 – Tomb Raider, SimCity Launch Disaster, and Nintendo woes

This week, we start off our podcast with Chris’s impressions of the brand new installment in the Tomb Raider series (you can find his full review at eggplante.com. We then move on to the big news of the week — namely, EA’s botched launch of Sim City. From server issues, to pulling features, and more — it seems that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Finally, we finish off our podcast with a quick look at Nintendo’s history with load times and battery life, and how their current consoles seem to have thrown both of those important features out the window. Thanks for joining us for another fantastic week of the 8Bit Awesome Podcast.

Podcast 17 – EA Morgan Stanley Event, EA / Xbox Exclusivity and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

This week on the 8Bit Awesome Podcast, we talk about the absurd amount of EA news. Earlier this week, EA held an event discussing their plans for the next generation, which included potential 69.99 pricepoints for games, micro-transactions, and more. Also, rumors were circulating across the web about a deal struck between Microsoft and EA, for potential exclusivity on the next Xbox. Finally, we discuss the leaks coming out of Ubisoft, surrounding the upcoming Assassin’s Creed sequel, Black Flag. We also give quick previews of Luigi’s Mansion, Lego City: Undercover, and Brain Training in our “What we’ve been playing” segment.
